Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding

(Proverbs 4:7)

Understanding in other places translated as insight, to comprehend, perceive and digest issues, situations, emotions, peoples and even happenings. Understanding we are told over and over again especially in the book of Proverbs is to be actively sought. One does not understanding people and issues in a vacuum, it happens in an environment where the person has committed themselves to learning to seeking knowledge then understanding will follow.

Therefore, our children must be those that learn; those that seek out knowledge. Through reading, through interacting with the old, through sitting down and being taught in formal and informal settings. Then as they learn and gain knowledge, they seek to understand. Understanding is a virtue gained through a process, you cannot understand what you do not know. We have a responsibility to expose our children to knowledge that leads to understanding. Deuteronomy 6:1-9  is a perfect road map for us: God’s Word

Question for the Day: How are you making sure that your child/ren is gaining knowledge and moving on to understanding specifically as pertains God’s Word?

PRAYER:

Father, we desire to know you and your Word. We also desire the same for our children. Dear Father, help us to obey your Word, that we would be those who teach our children your Word and guide them to seek understanding of the same. In doing so Father, our prayer is that Your Word will become the standard of every other knowledge and understanding they acquire and seek out in life. In Jesus Christ we ask, Amen
