May we dwell in peace and liberty

May we dwell in unity, peace and liberty

We have looked at dwelling in unity, let us now turn to peace and liberty.

John 14:27

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.

Liberty which denotes freedom can only be achieved in an atmosphere of peace. However, there are two different types of peace as we can see from John 14:27 – Peace that God gives, and peace that the world gives. The peace that God gives proclaims liberty regardless of prevailing circumstances – war, famine, disease, hate, fear, lack, bad governance and all that characterizes the fallen world. The peace that the world gives is elusive, because it is the absence of war, famine, disease, hate, fear, lack, bad governance yet this are the hallmarks of a fallen world.

The peace of God is a transcending peace, it is a peace that is irrespective of happenings all around us. That peace leads to liberty, to freedom. Freedom to worship God and freedom to trust in Him despite all that is happening around us screaming and tagging at our hearts to faint, to fear, to lose hope to go down the path of depression. That is the peace we ought to be praying from our God the creator of all, the peace that guarantees liberty that can never to taken away from us.

This peace is only accessed through Jesus Christ, who is The Way, The Truth and The Life – No one comes to the Father (the giver of peace and liberty) excerpt through Jesus Christ. Do you know Him?

Prayer:

O God of all creation, may you grant us peace and liberty. The peace that you give, the peace that passes all human understanding, the peace that leads to eternal liberty and rest. Reveal yourself, even this very minute Father through your Son Jesus Christ to all those who do not yet know you and desire to know you giver of life eternal and peace everlasting. In Jesus Name, Amen
