Whoever walks in integrity walks securely,
but whoever follows perverse ways will be found out. (Proverbs 10:9)
The integrity of the upright guides them,
but the crookedness of the treacherous destroys them. (Proverbs 11:3)
Integrity is a virtue that is in short supply in the world today. People who align their words, their actions, their intentions, and their character are not very many. Yet in the book of proverbs we see over and over again that Integrity is a life preserving virtue. So why is such a valuable virtue so uncommon today? One of the answers I can think of straight away is that Integrity is costly, it can even cost your life. Think about whistle blowers for a minute – how many do you know have ended up living in luxury after their decision to whistle blow?
Now let’s flip the coin. Integrity allows you to walk securely, it guides you. When everything about you is aligned (words, thoughts, actions, intentions) there is a freedom you have that money cannot buy. There is so many types of worries that just never cross your path – like contradicting yourself in any given setting. Integrity is a gift to yourself and it ends up glorifying God because when you walk in Integrity it is God’s Name that gets honored since you are associated with that Name.
Question of the Day: How can you practically teach your child/ren about integrity in their words, thoughts, actions, intentions for the next 30 days?
PRAYER
Father in heaven, we are your children. Everything we do reflects on You as our Father be it good or bad. Integrity is a virtue that reflects Your very character and brings you glory when it defines who we are. So Father we ask for ourselves and for our children that we be people who are defined by integrity. Help us daily to make choices that lead to a life of integrity despite the cost. In Jesus Name we ask, Amen.
