His disciples remembered that it was written, “Zeal for your house will consume me.”
(John 2:17)
This is in reference to Psalm 69:9 – “For zeal for Your house has consumed me, And the reproaches of those who reproach You have fallen on me.” Jesus has just whipped the merchants in the Temple and thrown them out together with the merchandise (animals and all), turned the table for the money changers and declared that God’s house shall be called a House of Prayer for all Nations. Jesus is the perfect example of what it means to be Zealous for God; be consumed by what consumes God, be offended by what offends God and stand to be counted both times regardless of the cost.
Today, black and white are no longer as clear as there were in days past. There is a lot of grey being pushed towards the Children of God. Matters that are very clear in God’s Word specifically on what God calls sin and clearly condemns have become a matter of public and sadly even theological debates. We need to be people who are consumed for God, stand for God, proclaim what God stands for and teach our children to do the same. To daily count the cost, carry our cross and follow Jesus: zeal for God.
Question of the Day: Can you and your child/ren be described as people who have been consumed by zeal for God? How can you improve or change that?
PRAYER:
Father, you are very clear in Your Word on what You require from us. You have clearly defined what is sin and how to become righteous. Father, when we want o compromise or fit in we get all sorts of excuses and twisted theology on why Your Grace covers what you detest and hate. Forgive us Father. Help us and our children to be those who daily count the cost, take up our cross and wholeheartedly follow you. Let zeal for You Father, consume us: our thoughts, our actions, our speech, our lifestyle. In Jesus name we ask, Amen.

I love the passion, fire and zeal in you while serving God in the children ministry. Since you started Bible club in our village, kids always look forward to the next lesson and i thank God you still find time to visit to check on the church you started.
My prayer for you, May the Lord grow your passion in serving Him.
God bless
