Happy is everyone who fears the Lord,
who walks in his ways.
You shall eat the fruit of the labor of your hands;
you shall be happy, and it shall go well with you.
(Psalm 128:1-2)
The Bible from Genesis all through to Revelations is filled with accounts of men and women who feared God, as well as accounts of men and women who did not fear the LORD. Just a quick sweep: Abel vs. Cain; Joseph Vs. his brothers; Moses Vs. Pharaoh; Rahab Vs. Entire City of Jericho; Ruth Vs. Orpah; Lazarus Vs. Rich Man – just to mention but a few. What stands out from all these accounts is that each one of these individuals did not just claim to be God – fearing but they also lived out their lives as a reflection of the same: as God-fearing people.
To be a God-fearing individual is to be one who is in total submission to God the Father: Submitted to His Will and His Word. A God-fearing person is one who daily subdues their will, their flesh, their desires so that the Will, the Spirit and the Desires of God can become alive in their mortal bodies. A God-fearing person is one who is walking in obedience to God. It is a path of sacrifice, of conscious choice, yet one of great reward both in this life and in the life to come. Hallelujah!
Question of the Day: How can you teach your child/ren to be a God-fearing individual?
PRAYER:
Father, we pray for ourselves as we pray for our children that we may be people who are God-fearing. That we together with our children may be wholly submitted to you Father; not just in our words but in the lives that we live. In Jesus Name we ask, Amen
