Do not worry about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:6-7)
I have grown up witnessing the obedience of this verse from my mother and my late grandmother (may her soul continue to rest in peace). These two women of faith, have believed God as long as I have known them and have prayed virtually about everything! And I mean everything. My mum prays when she wakes up in the morning, prayers before making breakfast, prays for the homestead, prayers for her chicken to be healthy and produce more eggs, prays for the produce of her farm, and prays for her husband and children and grandchildren.
She taught my sisters and I to pray, not so much using words but by living in obedience to God’s Word. And God has kept His Word, His peace that passes human understanding has guarded and continues to guard my mum and late grandmother as long as she lived. Note, it is not that God answers each and every prayer made – NO – but it is that He has given peace to all who are not anxious about anything but make their requests known to God. That’s the beauty of prayer, total abandonment to God not necessarily answered prayers.
Question for the Day: How can you teach your children that there is more to prayer than our requests being answered?
PRAYER:
Father, thank you for making a way through Jesus Christ back to you. That we mortal, sinful men can come before your throne covered in the righteousness of Jesus and commune with you. Thank you Father for calling us t not be anxious about anything but in prayer make all our requests known to you. Father teach us to obey your commands and to teach our children to obey the same. You are faithful Father, we know that you will always do your part. In Jesus Nam we pray, Amen.
