May we dwell in unity

May we dwell in unity

O God of all creation, may we dwell in unity.

Psalm 133

1 Behold, how good and pleasant it is
    when brothers dwell in unity!
It is like the precious oil upon the head,
    running down upon the beard,
upon the beard of Aaron,
running down on the collar of his robes!
It is like the dew of Hermon,
which falls on the mountains of Zion!
For there the Lord has commanded the blessing,
    life for evermore.

There is something special about unity. Unity benefits the individuals who are united but also as a result of the unity productivity unbounded flows out of that unity. Just look at the not so good example of human beings building the tower of Babel in rebellion against God. God Himself noted:  “Behold, they are one people, and they have all one language; and this is only the beginning of what they will do; and nothing that they propose to do will now be impossible for them”(Gen 11:6)

And the enemy also knows how much unity can yield, and the promise of a blessing when brothers dwell together in unity; is it a wonder then that he is in the business of diving our nation brother from brother, family from family, tribe from tribe, region from region, class from class?

That is why we ask that our God, the God of all creation helps us to dwell to live together in unity as a nation: brother with brother, family with family, tribe with tribe, region with region and the whole nation as one!

Prayer:

O God of all creation, help our nation from the basic unit of family all through to our tribes and the entire nation as a whole to dwell together in unity. Father God, you know very well the sharp divisions in this country especially along tribal and economic lines. We beseech you in your mercy to forgive us for fueling divisions amongst ourselves and ask that you begin a work of unity within us as individuals that will translate into a united family, tribes and nation. In Jesus Name, Amen!

What a beautiful prayer! Amen. I like this series on the national anthem very much, don’t think I’ll ever sing/pray it the same ever again. Great posts, the message and graphics are on point! ❤
