I appeal to you therefore, brothers and sisters, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your minds, so that you may discern what is the will of God—what is good and acceptable and perfect. (Romans 12:1-2)
We are living in treacherous days where sadly the Church has conformed itself to the patterns of this world. Many excuses, some genuinely sounding and looking, have been forwarded for this full speed conforming. But none is able to withstand the scrutiny of the Word of God. As parents, teachers, guardians, mentors and older siblings we have failed God, ourselves and the children that are looking up to us. We are no longer authentic Christians, we have become compromised. In many ways, we have conformed ourselves to the patterns of this world; Lord have mercy on us.
To be authentic is our prayer for our children today. That they may be Christians who are not conformed to the patterns of this world but are being transformed by the renewing of their mind. The renewing of their minds is not going to come from anywhere else apart from the Word of God. So as we pray for our children to be authentic Christians we are also making a commitment to be the same. We are making a commitment to teach them God’s Word, the Word that will renew their mind to transformation of their whole lives.
Question for the Day: How have you conformed to the patterns of this world?
Father, we come to you in repentance. We have conformed ourselves in so many ways to the patterns of this world. Forgive us Father. Help us to be transformed by the renewing of our minds. We present our children to you Father, we ask that you help us to model and teach them to be authentic Christians. Christians that are transformed in every area of their lives by the renewing of their minds as they read, study, meditate and obey your Word.
